Swinging from tree to tree in the tropical Southeast Asia rainforests are where these great apes can be seen. Despite being up amongst the trees for most of their lives orangutans actually spend a large portion of their time on solid ground sitting beneath the rainforest canopy.
This sculpture showcases a mother orangutan resting with her long arms stretched out and feet placed together. This primate has been hand-painted shades of brown with intricate carvings detailing her hair and gazing eyes.
